A new era had begun, infused with the energy of the next generation, and there were major investments in both olive trees and vineyards.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe family’s passion for the wine business, plus the excellent regional terroir (combining both favorable soils and ideal sun exposure), led in 2001 to the expansion of the vineyards to their current 28 hectares in the Alto Alentejo. These south-facing vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils, and are worked sustainably following the principles of Integrated Farming. For the red wines, the main grape varieties used are Aragonez (the name used in the region for the grape more widely known as Tempranillo) and Syrah. Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon are also grown, to obtain more complex wines.
